David Batchelor

Project Manager National Highways

David is currently a Project Manager in the Safety, Engineering and Standards Directorate at National Highways leading on Severe Weather Operational Requirements and Severe Weather Research & Development.  He has over 35 years of severe weather experience, particularly in the fields of research, consultancy, road weather systems  and winter management. David has worked across both the public and private winter and weather sectors, he is known across the UK  winter service  industry as a subject matter expert, as well as a thought leader.

David regularly presents in his role as the Secretary of the UK National Winter Service Research Group (NWSRG).  His remit across National Highways and NWSRG is to develop standards and operational requirements through forward thinking interventions and strategies, combined with stretching R&D. He leads and works with high performance project teams to ensure National Highways continues to be at the very leading edge of international severe weather management technology and smart innovation.
