Speaker : Wayne Davison

My career in the highways and construction industry started over 30 years ago, working on sites throughout the UK.  I then moved onto working in the local authority for Durham County Council for some time. After which I moved to contracting on highways for various companies across the UK.

Throughout my time in the Highways sector I have gathered experience working in both England and Scotland. For Highways England strategic road network I have worked in areas 14, 13, 12, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 and in South East and South West Scotland which covers the southern half of Scotland. I have also spent time in New Zealand, working on bids for Auckland City Council.

My skills and current duties include; developing operational solutions during bid stages, mobilisation of new contracts, management of contracts through initial start-up phase from mobilisation to around 2 years in. I also provide additional support where contracts or business areas are experiencing challenges to improve service and performance.

I like to think I bring energy and a broad range of hands on, pro-active delivery experience to the contracts I participate in.

In respect of winter maintenance I have covered all aspects of winter maintenance from being a “gritter driver”, to verifier, to winter manager. Covering diverse geographical areas such as Southern Scotland, North Pennines and most recently the South East of England.
